Atticus Update! 2008.12.21
Yikes! Sometimes we are so focused on the care of the dogs and fosters of Southern Cross that we forget to say "Thank You" to the very special people that help us to continue to help dogs like Atticus and Phoenix, Annie and Duke, Darcy Mae and many others that are now having a warm Christmas where they are special and loved. I have even been accused of being a really good Grinch this Christmas!
....But........the past few months have been a very humbling time for us as we look back and acknowledge all of the good wishes, hard work, care and comfort that has been given to us by the Animal Rescue Community at large and all those that love animals. We know we could not do what we do or continue our work without all of you.
We want to Thank each and every one of you that has continued to support us over the last year and make a special acknowledgment to the following folks that are always ready and willing to help Southern Cross when it reaches out to help another Special Needs dog. We have tried to keep our Paw of Fame list up to date and if you have donated to Atticus and don't see your name there please remind me!
Southern Cross sends VERY SPECIAL Thanks and Appreciation to all of the following for their commitment, love, support and care of the pups that need all of our care.

Atticus was seen at UGA on December 16th. He is a wonderful dog with a puppy's spirit and even though his mobility is limited he is a happy dog. His prognosis is "Guarded". He has significant spinal cord compression with spinal cord atrophy but the fractured area is stable. He will be monitored for one more month with increased daily activity and then re-evaluated at UGA. He doesn't seem to think he is much different from any of the other dogs here and spent the last hour "borrowing" every one else's chew toys. He will have to give them back.
Wishing all of you the Joy of Peace and the Special Love that comes from sharing our lives with the other creatures of the world.
Happy Holidays from Southern Cross!
Molly.....and the Dogs!
