Annie

Please Help Annie!

This is Annie - a 6 month old purebred GSD that lay in the Floyd County Animal Shelter in severe pain before a GA Rescue could help her. She was taken to a local veterinarian's office for an assessment of her injuries. It appears that Annie had an old wound to her rear right leg that wasn't fixed properly and because of that the bone has healed incorrectly and the leg muscles have atrophied and have completely contracted her leg. In all liklihood her leg will need to be amputated.

She has new injuries to the leg that are infected and she is severely emaciated. She will need months of building her body up before any kind of surgery can be attempted - that means more months of pain for Annie that we will now hopefully be able to control. She will need to be kept in a secure location, with good food, good supplements and lots and lots of love.

Since she is only 6 months old it would appear that Annie has lived in severe pain and starvation for most of her young life. A decision had to be made - do we take responsibility to end her life or do we at least give her a chance to see who she can be if she is not in daily pain and able to feel like the young puppy she is.

Southern Cross has made the decision to try to give her a chance at life. For us it will mean that we will be using our limited dollars to help one dog instead of many more dogs but to us, each life counts and we can't put a dollar figure on that.

Any sponsorship of Annie is greatly appreciated because, as you can imagine, her medical bills will be staggering.

Once she is well she will need a very special forever home. If you would like to help Annie please consider donating to her care so that she can run and play like a young puppy should.
