Southern Cross German Shepherd Rescue believes very strongly in the idea of "the right rescue dog for the right rescue family.” We strive to place each dog with a family that will love and cherish it forever.If you have applied for a specific dog, what does this mean to you? To us, it means that we try very hard to match the rescue dog's need with the family that most closely matches those needs. If you are turned down for a specific dog it does not mean that you are not a good family for a rescue dog; only that we are striving to match a specific dog's individual needs. To us, that is what rescue is all about. There are tens of millions of dogs euthanized in this country every year - over a quarter of them are purebred dogs. We would like to help rescue as many as possible so we must be as careful as we can possibly be about placing dogs in the right homes.

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends the animals, especially for animals who are suffering; for any that are hunted or lost, or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all thy mercy and pity and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.
